Spring Home Checklist

Indoor Tasks

1 Deep Clean: Dust and wipe down surfaces, including ceilings, fans, and baseboards. Vacuum carpets, rugs, and upholstery; consider a professional cleaning for heavily used areas.

2 Declutter: Sort through closets, drawers, and storage spaces. Donate or discard items you no longer need.

3 Check Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Detectors: Test batteries and replace them if needed to ensure safety.

4 Wash Windows: Clean interior windows and screens to let in more natural light.

5 Inspect HVAC System: Schedule a professional tune-up for your air conditioning unit and replace air filters.

6 Refresh Bedding: Swap out heavy winter bedding for lighter spring linens and wash pillows or comforters.

7 Organize Kitchen: Clean out the pantry and fridge, tossing expired items and wiping down shelves.

Outdoor Tasks

1 Inspect Roof & Gutters: Check for winter damage (e.g., missing shingles) and clear gutters of debris to prevent water buildup.

2 Clean Exterior: Power wash siding, decks, and patios to remove dirt and grime accumulated over winter.

3 Service Lawn Equipment: Tune up your lawnmower, trimmer, and other tools; sharpen blades as needed.

4 Prepare Garden: Clear dead leaves, prune shrubs and trees, and start planting spring flowers or vegetables.

5 Check Outdoor Faucets & Sprinklers: Look for leaks or damage from freezing temperatures and test irrigation systems.

6 Inspect Walkways & Driveways: Repair cracks or uneven areas caused by winter weather.

7 Clean Outdoor Furniture: Wipe down or hose off tables, chairs, and grills to prepare for outdoor use.

Maintenance & Safety

1 Check Paint: Touch up interior and exterior paint where it’s peeling or faded.

2 Inspect Foundation: Look for cracks or signs of water damage around your home’s base.

3 Pest Control: Check for signs of pests (e.g., ants, termites) and set up preventative measures like sealing entry points.

4 Test Garage Door: Ensure it opens and closes smoothly; lubricate moving parts if necessary.

Optional

• Energy Audit: Assess windows, doors, and insulation for drafts to improve energy efficiency.
• Spring Decor: Add seasonal touches like fresh flowers or pastel accents to brighten your space.
